The position will be based just north of Nashville. As a vital member of the Purchasing team, the Buyer will be responsible for procuring assigned components, overseeing Vendor Managed Inventory, and driving supply chain continuous improvement initiatives focusing on on-time delivery. You will be responsible for aspects of purchasing and supply chain management to operate efficiently and coherently with the business plan.
Primary Responsibilities
- Generate purchase orders and develop and maintain open communication with vendors to ensure timing of parts, with expedite, as needed
- Collaborate with suppliers to provide timely order updates and adjust shipment schedules
- Provide feedback to affected departments regarding delayed supplier delivery dates or inadequate stock availability
- Work with the other teams (i.e.: Finance, Engineering, and Production) to resolve purchase order issues
- Monitor and maintain proper inventory levels of assigned components, including VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory), ensuring an optimum in-stock position, including participation in physical inventories.
- Generate and communicate reports (i.e.: weekly key vendor open orders, supply performance scorecards, etc.)
Job Requirements
- Associate degree with 1+ years supply chain or purchasing experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experienced Excel user
- Basic understanding of engineering drawings
- Desire to collaborate with both internal and external teams and ability to work independently
- Work in a fast-paced environment and able to prioritize workload effectively
