Core Values Series: Vol. 4 | Honesty

In our previous posts in the Core Values series, we talked about the drive and the authenticity in relationship that are paramount to our Affinity DNA. Today we are talking about perhaps the single most important value to us: honesty.

Honest Abe and his tired eyes. Honesty can feel like the more difficult task — but it is always worth it.

In my previous post, I told you that I believed authentic relationships may be what sets us apart in this industry. Today I’d like to add honesty to the “Set Apart” list.

Honesty makes us different.


One of the first things I noticed about working with Chad, was that he will be honest to the point of his own detriment. Here’s what I mean:

The IT industry, particularly in Nashville, is absolutely booming. There is never a shortage of jobs, only shortage of talent. There are more candidates than we possibly have the man-power to interview for each role. We look through resumes with a fine toothed comb and we choose who to interview wisely. Once we have hard-to-find candidates in an interview, and it’s going well, our insides are jumping for joy. Could this be the right person for the job?


But if you’ve interviewed with Chad, you know he always asks, “What are you looking for in your next role?” and what’s more–he always listens to your answer. If you’re a QA Specialist but have always dreamed of being a .NET developer, he is not going to place you in a QA role. Even if you would be great at it and it would fill his open role. Why? Because he is honest. He wants to honor you, your dreams, and passions. He wants to honor his client by delivering a candidate that is passionate about the company’s current need. Even if he loses money for honoring your passion, honesty and integrity is what sets him apart.
